The Lawler boys of the band (Peter, Shane and Rod) were playing together in the 70’s and were quite successful in a modest type of way. In 2013 they got together for a friends' 60th birthday party, and it was there that Rod hatched a plan to put the band back together.

Charlie was a long time friend of the Lawlers, and has played for many years as a drummer and blues harp player.

Charlie introduced Jan into the band because he had played with him in the past and he knew how damn good he was! Jan had played keyboards all his life and had been classically trained, but at the time was playing in other bands.

Shane had a good mate with a great voice that could add some depth to the line up, so Rousey came on board.

Still no bass player, so Rod advertised within the Metro Fire Brigade for someone to join the band. The very talented Stevo replied and made NOYB his number one band (even though he had several others to choose from).

That left the dreaded “lead guitar” position still to be filled, so after 3 or 4 unsuccessful try outs finally Stevo contacted Maurice. Mozz had been playing overseas and he stated in his resume’ that he was playing funk and blues in an a band where he was the only white guy (good credentials). So the musical Genius that is Maurice Victor joined the band and that made 8.

At one of the gigs a friend of Rods mentioned that he had heard of the wife of another firefighter that could sing the house down. So Rod made contact with Melissa and she came along one night and cemented her place in the band by being the true star that she is.

So where did the name come from?

After going through literally hundreds of suggested names, it was an off the cuff remark while setting up the gear for our very first live show together when one of the guys asked "What do we tell people when they ask what's the bands' name?"

Thus, “None of Your Business” was born and the band is going from strength to strength playing gigs all over town!

Hopefully for many years to come.

The Story so far...
